The Extech 407732 is a handheld dual-range sound level meter built to Type 2 accuracy standards, capable of measuring noise levels from around 35 dB up to 130 dB. It offers selectable “Low” and “High” ranges to accommodate quieter environments as well as loud industrial or outdoor conditions, making it a versatile tool for general noise surveys and sound-level checks.
Description
This instrument meets the ANSI and IEC Type 2 specifications for sound level meters, ensuring reliable performance for environmental noise assessments, workplace monitoring, audio system installations or compliance work. It features two selectable measurement ranges (Low: ~35–100 dB; High: ~65–130 dB) which allow the user to cover a wide span of sound environments with one device. It supports both A- and C-frequency weighting, and selectable Fast or Slow time responses. The user interface includes a backlit LCD display for use in dim lighting, a bar-graph and digital readout, along with Data-Hold and Max-Hold functions for freezing or capturing peak readings. The unit is lightweight and compact, runs on a 9 V battery and is supplied with a microphone windscreen. It is suitable for tasks such as community noise-ordinance enforcement, workplace safety noise surveys, or audio system verification.
