Extech 407750 Sound Level Meter with PC Interface
The 407750 is a professional sound level meter equipped with an RS-232 PC interface, enabling real-time data capture on a computer, and featuring modes suitable for general environmental noise surveys as well as machine-noise diagnostics.
Description
This instrument covers a measurement range from 30 to 130 dB (for A-weighting) with six auto/manual selectable ranges, and has a Type 2 accuracy of ±1.5 dB (at 94 dB/1 kHz) in compliance with ANSI and IEC standards.
The unit offers selectable frequency weightings (“A” & “C”), selectable time responses (Fast ~125 ms and Slow ~1 s), and includes a special “Background Absorber” (BA) mode which lets you measure equipment noise even when ambient background noise is present.
A large backlit LCD combined with an analog bar-graph gives both numerical and visual feedback of the sound level. The PC interface (RS-232 jack) supports streaming of readings to a PC (via optional cable and software) for logging or further analysis.
Additional features include MIN/MAX capture, MAX-HOLD, auto and manual ranging, AC and DC analog output jacks for chart recorders, a tripod mount, and auto-power-off (which can be disabled).
Overall, this model suits applications such as machinery noise measurement, workplace noise surveys, installation of fire alarms or speaker systems, regulatory noise compliance, and general field use.
