Extech 42545 High Temperature IR Thermometer
The Extech 42545 is a rugged, high‑temperature infrared thermometer capable of measuring surface temperatures up to approximately 1000 °C (1832 °F) with a long‑distance optics ratio, built‑in laser targeting, adjustable emissivity and alarm functionality — making it well suited for industrial, maintenance or safety inspection tasks.
Description
This model is designed for demanding applications where you must measure high surface temperatures from a safe distance. The 50:1 distance‑to‑target (D:S) ratio allows you to measure small spots even from further away, reducing risk when inspecting hot surfaces. With its infrared range from about ‑50 °C to 1000 °C (‑58 °F to 1832 °F) it covers a broad span of industrial‑grade measurement needs. A built‑in laser pointer helps you identify and aim at the exact target area, which is especially useful given the long measurement distances. The instrument also features adjustable emissivity (from ~0.10 to 1.00) so you can tailor it to different surface materials—important for accuracy when measuring painted, bare metal, or other finishes. It supports high and low alarm set‑points, so you can program the device to alert you if temperatures exceed or fall below your thresholds. Additional useful functions include MAX, MIN, AVG and DIF (difference) measurements, a large back‑lit LCD display for dark or dim environments, data‑hold when trigger is released, and auto‑power‑off to preserve battery life. Supplied in a rugged form factor with a 9 V battery and carrying case, it’s engineered for fieldwork, plant maintenance, safety inspections, manufacturing equipment checks, furnaces, kilns and other high‑temperature environments.
