Extech 480826 Triple Axis EMF Tester
The Extech 480826 is a handheld, triple-axis EMF meter designed to measure electromagnetic fields in three dimensions (X, Y, Z). It’s ideal for detecting fields from power lines, appliances, wiring, and industrial devices and supports measurement over the 30 Hz to 300 Hz frequency range.
Description
The Extech 480826 Triple Axis EMF Tester provides reliable, multi-directional EMF measurement by combining an external sensor and internal circuitry to read electromagnetic fields along three orthogonal axes. This avoids the need to rotate or reorient the unit for obtaining accurate measurements. It displays readings in both Gauss and Tesla units over multiple selectable ranges. The meter is calibrated for fields generated by standard power frequencies (30–300 Hz), which covers typical electrical infrastructure and devices.
The unit includes a detachable sensor (with ~3 ft / 930 mm cable) so you can position the sensing element closer to the source while keeping the display and controls in hand. Its interface includes axis selection, manual ranging, data hold, and an LCD display with update intervals around 0.4 seconds. The meter runs off a 9 V battery, and is compact enough for field work. With its triple-axis capability and wide dynamic ranges, it is well-suited for environmental EMF surveys, safety inspections, and locating “hot spots” around electrical systems.
