Extech BT100 Battery Capacity Tester
The Extech BT100 is a portable battery capacity tester that allows online testing of batteries without needing to disconnect them. It simultaneously measures DC voltage and AC resistance (milliohms), stores test results in internal memory, and supports PC-based data export — making it a practical tool for quick battery health assessment in the field.
Description
The BT100 is engineered for efficient battery diagnostics by combining a milliohm meter with voltage testing. It measures a battery’s internal resistance using a 1 kHz test current while concurrently displaying the DC voltage. Because the device uses a four-terminal (Kelvin) measurement method, it reduces the influence of lead and contact resistance and delivers highly accurate readings.
One of the standout capabilities of the BT100 is its ability to perform on-line testing, meaning the battery can remain connected to its system while tests are conducted, avoiding downtime. It includes a built-in data logger that can store up to 999 manual test results or up to 9,600 continuous logs, providing flexibility for both spot checks and long-term monitoring.
The device supports multiple resistance and voltage ranges. For resistance, it covers 40 mΩ, 400 mΩ, 4 Ω, and 40 Ω with resolutions down to microohm levels. For voltage, ranges of 4 V and 40 V are available, with a maximum input voltage of 50 V DC.
In terms of usability, the BT100 provides a dual-display that shows voltage and resistance side by side, and includes comparator functions to indicate pass/fail battery condition. It also supports auto power-off to preserve battery life. Accessories include Kelvin test leads, alligator clip leads, software, and six AAA batteries for immediate use.
