Extech CO220 Desktop Indoor Air Quality CO₂ Meter
The Extech CO220 is a desktop air quality monitor that tracks carbon dioxide (CO₂), air temperature, and relative humidity. It also computes dew point, wet bulb, time-weighted average (TWA), and short-term exposure limit (STEL) values, with built-in alarms and memory logging for indoor air quality management.
Description
The CO220 is designed for continuous monitoring of indoor environments such as classrooms, conference rooms, hospitals, and offices. It uses a maintenance-free NDIR (non-dispersive infrared) CO₂ sensor to accurately measure concentrations from 0 to 9,999 ppm. Alongside CO₂, it monitors ambient temperature and humidity, from which it derives dew point and wet bulb conditions.
The front panel features a large, three-tier LCD display that shows CO₂, temperature/humidity, and time/date simultaneously. Small icons illustrate indoor air quality ranges (e.g., 350, 450, 700, 1000 ppm thresholds). Users can set high and low CO₂ alarms; when triggered, both visual and audible alerts activate. The unit keeps track of maximum and minimum CO₂ values automatically and includes a manual memory to store up to 99 readings with timestamps.
In addition, the CO220 calculates TWA (8-hour average) and STEL (15-minute average) to help assess exposure risks over time. It also offers ventilation metrics like liters per second per person (lps%) and cubic feet per minute per person (cfm/p). The sensor is auto-baseline calibrated over a 7.5-day period (assuming fresh-air exposure occasionally). The CO220 runs off an AC adapter, is built in a stable desktop housing, and is ideal for fixed monitoring in indoor environments.
