Extech ET16 Receptacle Tester for Type B Electrical Outlets

The ET16 is engineered for electricians, maintenance technicians and building inspectors who need a fast and reliable way to confirm the wiring condition of standard North American three-wire receptacles. Simply plugging the tester into the outlet triggers a combination of LED lights which map to a clear legend printed on both sides of the unit—making it safe to use regardless of ground-terminal orientation. The device detects conditions such as correct wiring, open ground, open neutral, open hot, hot/ground reversed, and hot/neutral reversed. Its compact moulded plastic body includes an ergonomic “pull-bar” to safely remove it from the outlet without tugging on the cord or risking contact. The tester is rated for use on 110-125 V AC, 50 or 60 Hz circuits and is meant for quick checks rather than deep fault diagnosis (for instance, it does not test GFCI/GFI operation).
