Extech IR267 Mini IR Thermometer with Type-K Input
The Extech IR267 Mini IR Thermometer with Type-K Input is a compact, handheld device that allows you to measure surface temperatures without contact as well as via a Type-K thermocouple probe. It’s ideal for situations where you need flexibility — infrared readings, ambient air temperature, or probe-based contact measurements — all in one tool.
Description
The IR267 is built to be a versatile and practical temperature measurement instrument. For non-contact measurements, it features a laser pointer to help aim at the exact spot, and a distance-to-target ratio of approximately 12:1 (meaning the further you are, the larger the spot you cover). On the infrared side, it can measure up to about 600 °C (≈ 1112 °F) for surface temperature. On the contact side, the Type-K thermocouple input enables much higher range measurements — up to around 1000 °C (≈ 1832 °F) depending on the probe used. It also has an ambient air temperature sensor built in, so you can monitor general room or ambient conditions. The unit supports adjustable emissivity (from around 0.05 to 1.00) so you can calibrate it for different surface materials, improving accuracy. Additional features include programmable high and low alarms (with audible and visual indication), data-hold (the reading stays when you release the trigger), and modes to show MAX, MIN, AVG, and DIF (difference between max and min) values. The display is backlit for visibility in dim conditions. Power comes from a single 9 V battery. With its compact size and multi-mode measurement capability, it’s designed for HVAC, maintenance, electrical, mechanical inspection, and other applications where both IR and contact temperature readings are useful.
Features
-
Measures non-contact surface temperature from approximately –50 °C to 600 °C (–58 °F to 1112 °F).
-
Type-K thermocouple input enabling contact temperature measurements up to about –50 °C to 1000 °C (–58 °F to 1832 °F) depending on probe.
-
Built-in ambient (air) temperature sensor from around –20 °C to 70 °C (–4 °F to 158 °F).
-
Adjustable emissivity from about 0.05 to 1.00, improving accuracy across different surface types.
-
Distance-to-spot (D:S) ratio of approx. 12 : 1, meaning the spot diameter becomes manageable when close to the target.
-
Built-in laser pointer for aiming at the measurement spot.
