This instrument is designed to deliver convenient and reliable surface-temperature measurements without the need to touch the object. Its ergonomic design fits comfortably in one hand, and when the trigger is pressed it emits a laser pointer to mark the exact spot being measured. The infrared optics are arranged with an 8:1 distance-to-spot ratio, enabling users to read smaller areas from a safe or comfortable distance. The device uses a fixed emissivity setting (0.95) which simplifies use across many standard surface types without needing manual emissivity adjustments. The backlit display ensures readability even in dim or shadowed environments, while automatic data-hold and min/max functions capture peak or low values as you scan surfaces. Built-in auto power-off protects battery life, and it ships with a 9-volt battery and carrying case.
