Extech LCR200 Passive Component LCR Meter
The Extech LCR200 is a compact, feature-rich LCR meter designed to measure inductance (L), capacitance (C), and resistance (R) with high precision. It also displays secondary parameters such as quality factor (Q), dissipation (D), equivalent series resistance (ESR), phase (θ), and can operate in either series or parallel modes. With multiple test frequencies, open/short calibration, a dual-display, and configurable limits, it is suited for component testing, QC, and prototyping tasks.
Description
The LCR200 is built for electronics professionals and hobbyists who need accurate and flexible component measurements. It integrates a backlit dual LCD that simultaneously shows both a primary parameter (L, C, or R) and a secondary parameter (Q, D, ESR, or phase). The unit supports five selectable test frequencies (100 Hz, 120 Hz, 1 kHz, 10 kHz, 100 kHz), allowing you to characterize components under varying conditions. It offers auto-ranging, an Auto LCR mode (which automatically switches between L, C, R depending on the measured impedance), and the ability to force manual parameter selection.
To improve accuracy, the LCR200 allows open-circuit and short-circuit calibration (zeroing out stray impedances from leads and fixtures). It supports measurement in both series and parallel equivalent circuit modes and includes a REL/% mode to compare deviations from a stored baseline. A sorting mode can automatically flag components within a tolerance range relative to the reference value. Readings can be held with a Data Hold function, and the unit includes limit-checking (Hi/Lo) modes, auto power-off (which can be disabled), and a low battery indicator.
Construction includes a built-in test fixture for ease of use, and external pin or banana test leads are also supported. The meter can be powered by a 9 V battery or an optional AC adaptor (which disables auto power-off). The housing is robust and designed for field or bench use, with an optional RS-232 interface for PC data output.
