Extech MO280 Pinless Moisture Meter
The Extech MO280 is a non-invasive pinless moisture meter designed to measure moisture content in wood and building materials without penetrating the surface. With a measurement depth of up to approximately ¾″ (20 mm), selectable material types, and a large digital display, it’s suited for inspections, restoration work, and quality control where surface damage must be avoided.
Description
The MO280 uses a low-power electromagnetic signal sent through the rear sensor pad to detect the average moisture content in materials beneath the surface. The LCD displays a moisture percentage, and users can choose from ten material group settings (covering various woods and building materials) for more accurate readings. The device is auto-calibrating and includes features such as a Data Hold button, low‐battery indication, and auto power-off for convenience. It is capable of measuring to a depth of about 0.75″ (20 mm) under the surface and works across a range of surfaces including wood, drywall, tile coverings, paper, and fabric. The MO280 is compact and portable, powered by a single 9 V battery, and comes with a protective pouch for field use. It’s designed to provide quick, reliable moisture readings without damaging the surface under test.
