Extech PRC10 Current Calibrator/Meter
The Extech PRC10 is a compact current calibrator and meter designed to source and measure DC current for process instrumentation tasks. It supports a 0 to 24 mA output for loop testing while also measuring up to 50 mA, making it useful for calibrating transmitters, sensors, and control systems in field and bench environments.
Description
The PRC10 is built to provide precision current sourcing and measurement in a handheld package. In source mode, it can generate currents from 0 to 24 mA (−25 % to +125 % of nominal) even when driving loads up to 1,000 Ω. In measure mode, it reads DC currents up to 50 mA (−25 % to +230 %). The device also includes a built-in 24 V DC loop power source so that two-wire current loops can remain active during tests.
Housed in a durable, double-molded enclosure, the calibrator features a large, backlit dot-matrix LCD and standard banana I/O ports for connectivity. It supports up to five user-programmable calibration presets, enabling quick recall of common settings. For long-term or continuous use, the unit can be powered via an external adapter or rely on its internal battery bank. The PRC10’s auto power-off function helps preserve battery life when idle.
Overall, this tool blends sourcing, measuring, loop power, and memory functionality into a single handheld device well suited for field calibration, maintenance, and process control work.
