The Extech SL250W is a compact, Bluetooth-enabled sound level meter that measures sound from 30 to 130 dB (A-weighted), displays results on a back-lit screen and links with a mobile app for data capture, trend monitoring and report generation.
Description
The SL250W is designed for professionals tasked with measuring and logging sound levels in environments such as workplace noise surveys, concerts, HVAC diagnostics and community noise monitoring. It features a built-in microphone with windscreen, offering an A-weighted measurement range from 30 to 130 dB with a resolution of 0.1 dB and typical accuracy of ±1.5 dB. The meter offers selectable Fast (125 ms) or Slow (1 s) response modes to suit transient or steady sound environments, and a large back-lit LCD for clear readings, even in dim conditions. Data-capture features include Max/Min reading memory, a Data-Hold function to freeze the display, and an auto-power-off (APO) mode to conserve battery life (which can be disabled when continuous monitoring is needed). Crucially, the SL250W supports Bluetooth connectivity and pairs with the ExView® mobile app on iOS and Android devices. Via the app you can view live measurements, set audible or visual alarms for high/low sound thresholds, record data, export in .CSV format, generate PDFs (with optional location photos), and even connect up to eight 250W-series meters simultaneously for multi-parameter monitoring. The unit is powered by three AAA batteries, includes a tripod-mount fitting, and its slim, lightweight build makes it ideal for field use or mounting. Whether used for facility audits, acoustics research or compliance checks, the SL250W combines traditional sound meter performance with modern connectivity and reporting functionality.
