Hioki DT4281 Digital Multimeter
The Hioki DT4281 is a high-precision, professional-grade digital multimeter with a 60,000-count, 5-digit display offering superior accuracy and broad frequency response. It’s designed for demanding environments and complex electrical measurements, featuring True RMS, safety shutters, clamp-sensor input option (instead of a 10 A terminal), and functions such as low-pass filtering to handle distortion and harmonics.
Description
The DT4281 stands at the top-tier of Hioki’s multimeter lineup, built for tasks where precision, safety, and flexibility are essential. It offers DC voltage measurement from low millivolt levels up to 1000 V with excellent basic accuracy. AC voltage is also measured across a similar span, with bandwidth up to 100 kHz so it can faithfully capture not just the fundamental component but higher-frequency components.
To manage measurement distortion (such as from inverter output or switching power supplies), it includes a low-pass filter to isolate the fundamental waveform. Current measurements are done via optional clamp probes rather than a conventional 10 A terminal, enhancing safety. The unit offers multiple other measurement functions—resistance, capacitance, frequency, DC+AC voltage, temperature (with thermocouple), diode test, continuity, etc.
Design-wise, it’s rugged: safety category ratings make it usable in high-risk electrical environments. The unit has input terminal shutters to prevent mis-insertion of test leads, backlight display (with warning coloring at high voltages), internal memory to store readings, and optional USB/communication interface to send data to a PC. Operating temperature, durability, and handling features suit field and lab use alike; the rugged build includes drop‐resistance and design features to maintain accuracy under adverse conditions.
Features
- True RMS measurements for both voltage and current to handle non-sine or distorted waveforms accurately.
