Hioki PW6001 Power Analyzer
The PW6001 is a high-precision, flagship power analyzer designed for DC through very high frequency measurement (up to ~2 MHz). It offers excellent accuracy, wide bandwidth, multi-channel capability, strong noise resistance, and is aimed at applications such as motor/inverter efficiency testing and high-speed switching device evaluation.
Description
The PW6001 is a benchtop power analyzer built for demanding measurement tasks. It supports single-phase and three-phase systems (2-, 3-, or 4-wire), and comes in multiple variants with different numbers of input channels (from 1 to 6, or synchronised pairs up to 12). Its voltage range spans from low voltages up to ~1500 V, with multiple selectable ranges. The device measures a full set of power parameters: voltage, current, active/apparent/reactive power, power factor, phase angle, frequency, efficiency/loss, peaks and ripple, etc.
One of its standout capabilities is ultra-wide frequency bandwidth: from DC (or 0.1 Hz) up to 2 MHz, with very high sampling rates (5 MS/s) and high resolution (TrueHD 18-bit). It has very fine accuracy for power measurement (basic accuracy ~±0.02%), and maintains good precision even when using external current sensors. The analyzer includes a sensor phase-shift correction feature so that phase errors at high frequency and under low power-factor loads are compensated. It can update power measurements every 10 ms while preserving this accuracy. It also provides wideband harmonic analysis (up to the 100th order) and supports long waveform recordings. Interface and synchronization options allow linking two units (optical link) for up to 12 channels, and it includes trigger functions (pre-, post-) for capturing waveforms during transient or motor control events.
Features
- Very high power accuracy (~±0.02%) for the analyzer unit itself; combined accuracy (with external current sensors) maintained within tight bounds.
- Wide frequency range from DC (or 0.1 Hz) up to ~2 MHz, with high sampling rate (5 million samples per second) and high resolution (18 bits).
- Phase-shift correction for current sensors to reduce errors in high-frequency and low power-factor conditions.
- Multi-channel support: 1-6 channels per unit, with possibility to sync two units (optical link) to achieve up to 12 channels.
- Fast update rate for power measurements (10 ms), while preserving maximum accuracy.
- Wideband harmonic analysis up to the 100th harmonic; ability to analyze harmonics and switch-mode switching waveforms.
- Support for motor analysis: includes triggers, pre-/post-trigger waveform capture, encoder/tacho inputs for speed/angle/slip measurements when configured.
- Strong noise immunity: high common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR), good stability vs temperature, and designed shielding.
- Flexible data storage and interfaces: internal memory, waveform recording, external interfaces (USB, LAN, RS-232, GP-IB etc.), digital/analog output in versions with motor-analysis/D-A option.
- Broad voltage and current measurement ranges, with ability to handle small to large signals, high voltages (~1500 V), and large currents (depending on sensor).
