Hioki PW3336 Power Meter

The PW3336 is a high-precision 2-channel AC/DC power meter capable of measuring single-phase to three-phase (3P3W) systems as well as DC, with ranges up to about 1000 V and 65 A. It handles harmonics (up to 50th order), supports very wide frequency band (from near DC up to ~100 kHz), and can be synchronized with other units for multi-channel measurement.

Description

The PW3336 is a benchtop power meter built to deliver accurate, reliable measurements across a wide set of electrical conditions. It has two input channels, allowing simultaneous monitoring of two circuits (or phases) — for example input vs output of an inverter, or comparing two related loads. It supports AC and DC voltages up to about 1000 V, direct current up to 65 A without external sensors, and with optional current sensors can measure much higher currents (thousands of amps).

It runs from very low frequency (0.1 Hz) up to about 100 kHz or more, so it’s suited both for standard power systems and for inverter / switching-type equipment with high frequency components. It measures a full suite of parameters: voltage, current, active/ reactive/ apparent power, power factor, efficiency, phase angle, harmonic content (up to the 50th order), waveform peaks, ripple, crest factors, integration of power / energy, etc. The meter also handles low power factor and no-load situations accurately, where waveform distortion or crest factor issues would affect lesser instruments. It offers synchronization so that multiple units can be used together (up to 8) with aligned measurement and data capture. It supports various interfaces and options (e.g. GP-IB, LAN, analog/D-A outputs) depending on the model variant. The device has internal memory / data integration, fairly fast display refresh, and is usable in both R&D / production environments and lab testing.

Features

  • Two independent input channels for AC/DC, enabling measurement of up to two circuits or phases simultaneously.
  • Voltage range up to ~1000 V (AC/DC) with direct input, current up to ~65 A direct, with optional sensors to handle much larger currents.
  • Frequency range from ~0.1 Hz (near DC) up to about 100 kHz – covers standard power frequency and high-frequency switching/inverter components.
  • High basic accuracy (~±0.1%) for active power measurement under many conditions, including DC and normal AC ranges.
  • Built-in harmonic measurement up to the 50th order, and compliance with harmonic measurement standards.
  • Capability to measure under low power-factor or no-load conditions with maintained accuracy despite waveform distortion or high crest factors.
  • Synchronization of up to 8 units for multi-unit measurement, allowing many channels to be aligned for simultaneous measurement.
  • Wide variety of measurement items: voltage/current/active/reactive/apparent power, power factor, efficiency, phase angle, waveform peaks, crest factor, ripple, integration of energy, etc.
  • Multiple model variants/options for additional outputs or interfaces (analog/D-A output, GP-IB, etc.).
  • Compact benchtop form factor with adequate power handling, display refresh options, and interfaces like LAN / RS-232, making it flexible in lab or production settings.
