Hioki SS7081-50 Battery Cell Voltage Generator
The SS7081-50 is a 12-channel battery cell voltage generator designed to simulate and test the behavior of individual battery cells, combining power supply, electronic load, and precision DMM functions. It’s used primarily in validating battery management systems (BMS), enabling safe simulation of normal and abnormal cell conditions (such as open wires or cell shorts), while providing high accuracy in voltage/current output and measurement.
Description
The SS7081-50 is a sophisticated test instrument tailored for advancing battery system development and validation. With 12 independently controlled channels, it can emulate the voltage and current characteristics of individual battery cells, serving as a complete replacement for physical cells or separate power supplies in BMS evaluation setups. Each channel supports DC output in the range of 0.0000 V to about 5.0250 V, with bidirectional current capability (i.e. acting as both source and sink) up to ±1.00000 A. It is built to handle both normal operations and fault conditions — for instance, simulating open-wire or short-circuit events — with high precision and safety, eliminating the risk of battery damage or fire when reproducing fault states. Measurement functions are integrated directly, allowing accurate volt and amp readings (even down to μA ranges) without needing external instruments. The unit supports high series stacking (up to 1000 V total across channels in series) for simulating large battery modules. Control is typically via LAN using bundled PC software, and multiple SS7081-50 units can be coordinated in a system. With its robust architecture, this generator streamlines BMS functional validation, cell balancing simulation, leakage current measurement, and abnormal state testing across multiple channels in a controlled, repeatable way.
