Megger MIT1015 Essential 10 kV insulation resistance testers
The MIT1015 is a robust and reliable 10 kV insulation resistance tester designed for industrial use. It provides essential insulation test functions—such as insulation resistance, dielectric absorption ratio (DAR) and polarization index (PI)—in a durable package, making it ideal for routine testing of motors, cables, switchgear and other electrical assets.
Description
Built for professionals working on high-voltage equipment, the MIT1015 offers selectable DC test voltages up to 10 000 V (10 kV) and insulation resistance measurements reaching into the tera-ohm range. It features Megger’s PI Predictor™ mode to speed up PI testing and the RE>Act™ mode to monitor re-absorption current and help ensure validity of results. The unit is constructed in a dual-case design for ruggedness, rated for CAT IV 600 V environments at altitude, and offers IP65 protection (lid closed) to withstand harsh field conditions. Though part of the “Essential” range (meaning it does not include onboard logged memory or data export), it provides all the core diagnostics needed for go/no-go or scheduled maintenance tasks. Simple rotary switches, a large backlit display and clear test voltage read-out make operation straightforward, while the guard terminal improves accuracy in high leakage conditions. The MIT1015 can be powered from its internal battery or via AC mains, giving flexibility for longer test campaigns. Overall, it strikes a balance between performance, safety and usability for high-voltage insulation testing without the complexity and cost of higher-tier models.
Features
- Selectable test voltages of 500 V, 1000 V, 2500 V, 5000 V and 10 000 V DC — capable for various insulation systems.
- Insulation resistance measurement range up to approx. 20 T Ω at 10 kV test voltage, supporting high-quality insulation diagnostics.
- Test modes include Insulation Resistance (IR), Polarisation Index (PI) and Dielectric Absorption Ratio (DAR) — the essential tests for preventive maintenance.
- RE>Act™ mode monitors re-absorption current to help avoid misleading pass results and manage stored charge safely after testing.
- PI Predictor™ function reduces the time required for the standard 10-minute PI test by estimating the value from shorter intervals.
- Rugged dual-case design, rated CAT IV 600 V (to 3000 m altitude) and IP65 (lid closed) — built for demanding industrial environments.
- Guard terminal included to reduce the effect of surface or parallel leakage currents, improving measurement accuracy on high-resistance assets.
- Operates from internal rechargeable battery or AC mains — flexible for field or workshop use.
- Large back-lit display for clear results under varied lighting, simple interface with rotary controls for intuitiveness.
- Designed as part of the “Essential” range — optimal for routine insulation testing where advanced logging or remote connectivity is not required.
