The Extech MO50 is a compact, pin-type moisture meter designed for quick reference measurements of moisture content in wood and common building materials. It features a simple interface, audible alert tones that increase in rate with higher moisture levels, and “moisture drop” icons to indicate low, medium or high moisture. Description
The MO50 integrates a pair of slender contact pins that you insert into the material under test—be it wood, drywall, plaster, concrete or mortar—to get a rapid moisture-percentage reading. The LCD displays the numeric result (in percent) and uses one to three water-drop icons to visually indicate whether conditions are low, medium or high moisture. Simultaneously, an audible tone beeps at a rate that increases as moisture levels rise, giving audible confirmation of wet conditions. A material-select button allows switching between “wood mode” and “building‐material mode” (each with their own range). Additional features include a display-lock function to freeze the current reading, a low-battery indicator, and auto power-off to conserve energy. The device ships complete with test pins installed, a protective cap, and a 9 V battery. Its slender housing makes it convenient for field use, behind walls or beneath flooring. Overall, it’s built for fast, practical measurement in the field rather than deep diagnostics.
