Extech MO55 Combination Pin/Pinless Moisture Meter

The Extech MO55 Combination Pin/Pinless Moisture Meter is a versatile, handheld device that allows users to measure moisture content in wood and building materials using two methods: pin and pinless. The pin method involves inserting contact pins into the material to obtain a direct moisture reading, while the pinless method uses an electromagnetic sensor to detect moisture up to a depth of approximately 25 mm (1 inch) without penetrating the surface.

In pin mode, the meter measures wood moisture content from 5% to 50% and other building materials from 1.5% to 33%, with a resolution of 0.1%. In pinless mode, it measures moisture content in wood and building materials from 0% to 99.9%, also with a resolution of 0.1%. The device features display icons indicating low, medium, and high moisture levels, and an audible alert that increases in frequency as moisture levels rise, aiding in quick assessments.

The compact design of the MO55 ensures portability and ease of use in various field conditions. It includes a data hold function to freeze readings on the display for easy recording, and an auto power-off feature to conserve battery life after 2 minutes of inactivity. The device operates on a 9V battery and comes complete with two replaceable threaded contact pins, a protective cap, and the necessary battery.
