Hioki PD3259-50 Digital Phase Detector
The PD3259-50 is a digital phase detector that can both detect the phase sequence and measure three-phase voltages (line-to-line and line-to-ground) by simply clipping its non-metallic voltage sensors onto insulated conductors. It provides a safe, efficient way to check phase order and voltage without touching exposed metal parts.
Description
The PD3259-50 is a handheld instrument intended for three-phase systems. It uses clamp-on, non-metallic sensors to measure voltage and determine phase sequence, eliminating the need for bare wire contact. Just clip the sensors around the insulated cable, and it shows the phase order (positive or negative), line-to-line voltages, and frequency. It supports three-wire and four-wire systems, and can also detect open phases or predict ground phase in three-wire systems. The device is rugged and field-ready: it’s rated for safety up to 600 V (CAT IV), protected against dust and splashes (IP54), and can withstand a 1 m drop. It offers features such as backlight, buzzer alerts for negative phase, hold function to freeze readings, auto power-off, and low battery warning. With the optional wireless adapter installed, it can send data via Bluetooth to a smartphone or tablet for logging or report generation. The display updates about every 0.5 seconds, and the device’s response time is within a few seconds. It’s powered by four AA batteries, giving several hours of operation under normal usage.
