Description

The PW8001 is an advanced, modular power analysis instrument built to capture power behavior in demanding applications. It can operate with up to eight input units, measuring circuits in configurations such as single-phase (2- or 3-wire) and three-phase (3- or 4-wire). Depending on the installed input module, it supports very high sampling rates (either ~2.5 MHz or ~15 MHz) and high resolution (16-bit or 18-bit). It supports a wide frequency band, from DC up to several MHz, maintaining excellent accuracy throughout. Voltage measurement ranges span many levels (low volts up to ~1500 V), and currents can be measured with a variety of sensors—from small currents up to many kiloamperes—depending on the sensor.

For measurement integrity, it automatically handles phase shift correction of current sensors, filters and auto-ranges to maintain optimal conditions, and offers noise resistance so readings are stable even in environments with high switching activity. It supports simultaneous measurement of multiple circuits or power channels, motor analysis (including torque, RPM, slip, etc.), waveform capture, harmonic and interharmonic analysis (up to very high order), flicker and voltage fluctuation monitoring. Interfaces for data export and synchronization include USB, LAN, optional CAN / CAN-FD, optical link, etc. The analyzer is designed with high safety and measurement category ratings for high-voltage use, and packaged in a benchtop frame with sufficient power supply and physical robustness for lab or industrial R&D use.

Features

  • Very high accuracy across DC to high frequencies (e.g. basic accuracy ~±0.03% with high-bandwidth input unit, good performance even at 50 kHz and above).
  • Modular input units: choice of high-bandwidth or lower-bandwidth modules (e.g. ~15 MHz / 18-bit, or ~2.5 MHz / 16-bit) to suit different needs.
  • Up to 8 power channels can be used simultaneously, allowing multi-circuit measurement in one instrument.
  • Automatic phase shift correction for current sensors to maintain accuracy at high frequencies and low power factors.
  • Harmonic & interharmonic analysis up to high orders (e.g. up to the 500th), plus flicker measurement complying with relevant standards.
  • Wide measurement ranges: voltage ranges from low volt levels up to ~1500 V, current up to several kiloamperes depending on sensor.
  • High data update rate (e.g. 1 ms or faster) so that rapid power fluctuations can be captured and analyzed.
  • Interfaces / expandability: supports optical link for synchronization or linking multiple units, LAN/USB/CAN/CAN-FD, etc.
  • Motor analysis capabilities: tracking torque, RPM, slip, and other motor performance metrics when used with torque / pulse sensors.
  • Safe high-voltage usage: built to handle high voltage levels, with appropriate measurement category ratings, and compatibility with sensors rated accordingly.
